Joe is awesome

I bought these wooden cake toppers and ask Joe to paint "us" on them. This is the sketch he came up with. How cute is this?

Dacia Lamb

Our awesome photographer friend Dacia Lamb took our engagement photos back in May.

Those were the images used in the "Save the Date" post cards y'all got in the mail...

She took the time to create an online album so you can purchase the prints :) you know you want a giant photo of me and Beth hanging in your living room :)

Things are coming along as the count down begins....

Things are finally coming along and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am now to the stage where I am starting to feel more excited rather than stressed.

I finished sewing my bouquet last night and am so happy with it. I actually did a better job on it than I thought I would have done. I have to admit I got a little sad when I was finishing the last flower. Maybe that means I need to do more craft projects!

Joe got his tie and shirt over the weekend and he looks so handsome! I ordered my wedding shoes. (purple pumps to go with Joe's shoes)

All the lights and laterns came in this weekend too. Can't wait to decorate!

We booked our guitarist to play at the ceremony. Davin is such a beautiful guitarist and we feel so lucky to have him play. It will not be traditional wedding music but did you expect that from us?

We also found a new place to cater our wedding. Joe and I drove to Culver City to meet with Letty and try out her yummy bbq. The place is called Santa Maria BBQ CO. check it out the website:
santamariabbq.com
For dinner we will be having pretty much the same menu as before.
Roasted Chicken
Veggie Fried Chicken
Potato Salad
Cole Sole
Grilled Veggies
Garden Salad
Garlic Toast... mmmmmm
Please come hungry.... don't forget we have apps before dinner as well.

Bachlorette Party In Kentucky

Maggie, Liza, Amy, Mary, Laura, Me, Cara, and Emily...dunno wear Ashley Morris and Kim are in the photo but they were there too!! xoxo ladies!!!

Thank you soo much to all my girlfriends for coming out for my Bachlorette Party in Louisville a couple weeks ago! Special thank to Liza, Laura and Emily for rounding up the troops. A lot of the ladies I had not seen in years! So fun!! You would have thought I would have had to wear funky stuff in my hair and receieved unmetionalble items at the party but Liza came up with a great idea and gave me tons of food that were all made in KY!

I love myself some Southern Comfort.. and I don't mean the drink!

I went home to Louisville, Kentucky last week to spend time with my family and friends before the wedding. I am so glad I did, it was just what I needed.. some southern comfort!!!

My Dad and I went around town looking for shoes but didn't have any luck. We did agree that it might be fun to wear purple shoes since the rest of the wedding party will have purple too! I can also wear the shoes again!!

Dad had his two friends come over and play wedding music on Michael's piano. It was wonderful to hear the music played in person rather than on CD!!! BTW, I am still looking for a viola, violin and cellist to play. If you know of someone please let me know a.s.a.p!

While his friends played the piano, Michael and I practiced walking down the aisle. Actually he practiced making me laugh so I won't cry down the aisle or be so nervous! Oh I just can't wait for both my Dads to walk me down the aisle!

My Mom and I did a lot of running around, we bought the favor boxes, flower pots, cup cake stand material and she addressed all the invites for me.

I love shopping with my parents! Thanks Mom and Dad and Michael for all your help!

The photos of the glasses are the champagne glasses from my parents wedding in 1967.
I love them because:

1. They were my parents
2. I love the show Mad Men and they remind me of something Don Draper would have drank out of, ha
3. They don't make glasses like that anymore!

Also shown up above is a photo of what the cupcake stand will look like and the flower pots that will mark the spot where Joe and I exchange our vows.....

Felt Flowers are on the way

So, I just got the email from Meg, the owner of princesslasertron. She sent me samples of what my bouquet and boutonniere's will look like! Here is a sample of what the boutonniere's will look like! YAY!!!

  • We have cable television
  • We got our cable internet installed... it's pretty fast :)
  • We bought a $20 rug

and Beth accidentally painted "white" paint on the "black" screen... hehehe silly

Appetizers by Bean Sprouts

Bean Sprouts is a fairly new vegetarian restaurant in Arcadia, California. The owner of the restaurant happens to be one of my mom's buddies!

Last night we had a delicious dinner there and had some samples to taste as well. They have a large variety of vegetarian dishes that will totally fake you out and make you think that you are actually eating "meat". NO JOKE ! as a matter of fact, I am thinking about their Crispy Fried Drumsticks right now... mmmmm.... so good!!

After we talked to the owner, tasted the foods, and reviewed the menu... We've decided on three appetizers for the wedding!
  • Turnip Cakes
  • Rainbow Roll (this will make you smile)
  • Vegetarian Egg Rolls

One last note for the vegetarian guests... please come hungry :)

Wedding Force One

I know you guys are very excited to read about our fantastic caterer, Janet from Spyked Gourmet. But that's not going to be posted till after our tasting session with Janet tomorrow evening... stay tuned :D

NOW! let's talk about shoes!! yes SHOES !!

I told Beth that she can do WHATEVER she desires when it comes to our wedding planning... IF and only IF I get to wear "super cool" sneakers with my wedding tux :D... And after visiting several shoe stores with my buddy Aidan, I failed to find that perfect sole.

Yesterday, we've discovered NIKEiD !!! You can personalize your own sneakers on the world wide web !!! So Beth and I created a "one-of-a-kind" super super cool cool awesome sneakers that has the elements of our wedding color scheme!! and hidden messages inside and out. Here it is... Wedding Force One !!!

A Schedule and Cupcakes

At the end of last night Joe and I were spent. Yesterday we met with our wedding coordinator Lisa Allen at the wedding spot. Lisa has been great, she taught me to really think about what I want on my wedding day (well and Joe's too). It is probably one of the hardest lessons I am learning about myself through this whole planning process. Still, it is a good lesson to learn! I feel so much better now that I know how our actual wedding day is going to go! I can't wait to have all the people that Joe and I love in the same place at the same time!

After we met with Lisa we went to meet Angie Dingman owner of www.lovecakesonline.com. Angie instantly knew what and how we want everything to look on our wedding day! We will be offering 4 different kinds of cupcakes; Red Velvet, Pina Colada, Vanilla Vanilla and Mint Chocolate. Check out her website for descriptions of all of her cupcakes, yum!!

Tomorrows post, meet the cater!

Flowers, yay!

Late Saturday morning, I had a photoshoot in my studio and then had to head over to shoot a wedding. Before I left Joe told me he was going to see "Hangover" with all his friends. I sighed, "ah lucky, I have to work another 7 hours".

Joe met me at my house that night and when I opened the door and he brought me flowers! He said, "I thought this might brighten your day a little since you had to work so long". It really did because I didn't expect him to bring flowers. He even found purple (my favorite color right now) tulips!

I asked him in the car the other night, "Joe will you still bring me flowers after we have been married for years and years?" He replied, "If you continue to be a good, then yes!!" Yippie!!!

The Hangover...

I (Joe) went and saw The Hangover with a few good friends yesterday while Beth was shooting a wedding. I have to say... The Hangover is probably one of the best comedies I've seen in ages... definitely "instant classic". The movie starts with Phil (one of the three groomsmen) on the phone with the bride... telling her how they messed up and couldn't make it back to the wedding. They woke up in the morning with a tiger, a chicken and a baby in their hotel room... simply AMAZING!

So after the movie... I told my boys (Thomas, Aidan and Jared) that ... NO we are NOT going to Vegas for my bachelor party... just because... PROBABLY... MAYBE... that might happen!!

take my advice... GO SEE THAT MOVIE !! and don't mess with Mike Tyson !!

HONEY MOON

For a couple years Beth has wanted to go to volunteer at an orphanage in Thailand. In January, Joe and Beth will go to Surin, Thailand and work at an orphanage for 2 weeks (Beth works while Joe explores on his own). Beth will work Monday-Thursday 8am-2pm with the children. She plans to document her stay and take portraits of all the kids. At the end of the trip she plans on sending back a book a long with a print for each child to keep.

After the two week stay in Thailand is up, they will fly to Taipai, Taiwan. That is where Joe and his family is originally from. Here Beth will meet Joe's family for the first time and celebrate their marriage as well as Joe's 29th birthday, and Chinese New Year!

ABOUT US

Joe and Beth met on Easter in 2006, at Beth's house. Beth set up a photo booth at the house so the guest could have some fun at the Easter BBQ. Joe kept coming in and out to get his photo taken as Beth just hid behind her camera. Joe ask Beth for her number but Beth never realized he liked her. She thought he just wanted to see the photos. Then the two saw each other over the next year and half out at events and each time Joe would ask for Beth's number again! Still they never went out. Beth also still had no clue that Joe liked her although her best friend Anna kept saying, "oh he likes you"!

Halloween 2007, Joe and Beth worked together at an event. Beth was bartender and Joe was coordinating the event. That night they both realized they had a crush, still not rushing to ask each other out. The next month on Beth's birthday she went out to eat and bowling with friends. The same night her roommates were working with Joe at this party event. It was the end of the night and Beth had her friend Van take her to see her roommates; secretly Beth was looking for Joe. The rest is just history, we started hanging out a lot but mostly just as friends but in May 2008 they both gave in a declared their love for one another.

"We are each others best friend!" Or as Beth says, "he is my rock, we work well and play well together what more could I want! Joe is like a good bottle of wine he only gets better with age."If you ask Joe... he will simply say, "I just LOVE Beth"!
